Photo Model Holidays

The project shows how to set up photo-shoots specifically for a Black and White end product when using Photoshop, Elements, Perfect B & W, Nik Silver Efex Pro or similar B & W conversion software.

 

In today's digital world, it is so much easier to produce high quality B & W images and prints than back in the film days with the wet darkroom and its toxic chemicals. Thankfully, a chemically drenched darkroom is now no longer required and, with a good editing package and a top quality inkjet printer, it is easy to produce finished prints that are the equal of, and in most cases, better, than two to three hours spent in a darkroom could ever achieve in the past.  Although there will always be the purists who retain their loyalty to the darkroom and never accept the equality of the digitally produced print, it is quite apparent that the way forward is, without a doubt, digital.

 

Emphasis on the tuition part of the project is given to selecting the correct lighting necessary for image illumination for effect and production of shadows to create the 'form/shape' of the subject. Similarly, it is equally as important to know how the background is to be lit, be it with added lighting or the actual removal of light with screens, masking flats, black reflectors and similar auxiliary items. There is no doubt, working with light is a joy and mastering photographic lighting is an ongoing art.
