As we have now opened up the photography holidays calendar for bookings for the 2018 season, it is very important that all visitors to our Photography Holidays, read and understand fully the information contained in the "Holiday Dates", "Terms and Conditions", "Travel" and "Accommodation" pages by utilising the Buttons above.
Holiday Travel Arrangements
The holiday course period is for seven days, including the days of arrival and departure, with the visiting photographers generally flying into Bulgaria on a weekday, mid to late afternoon, (depending on the flights), and departing mid to late afternoon on the following weekend.
Flights
Flights into Burgas, (the nearest airport), and Sofia are now available on a daily basis during the holiday season from all of Western Europe and a four flights weekly service from Dubai in the U.A.E. is now operating via WizzAir and FlyDubai.
Burgas
Visitors are recommended to fly into Burgas airport utilising WizzAir the all year scheduled carrier to Bulgaria. Alternatively, there are many of the normal package holiday carriers as Thomson, Thomas Cook, Charter Flights UK, Balkan Holidays and other similar carriers, who all fly into Burgas during the holiday season May - October.
For non-U.K. visitors, most of the Western and Eastern European countries have their own national carriers and charter companies that fly into Burgas during and outside the holiday season, May - October.
Burgas airport is approximately one hour's drive to Sedlarevo.
For visitors not renting a car, we arrange a pick-up and return service to Burgas airport as part of the holiday.
Sofia
Alternatively, U.K. and Ireland based photographers may wish to fly into Sofia via EasyJet from Gatwick on weekdays or WizzAir from Luton and Birmingham. Alternatively, Aer Lingus fly from Dublin to Burgas in the summer season.
Visitors from the U.A.E. can now fly direct to Bulgaria from Dubai using the new service from WizzAir to Sofia.
Those choosing the Sofia routing, who do not wish to rent a car, will need to make their own way to the town of Sliven, the nearest large town to Sedlarevo. This is not a problem, for a regular and excellent air-conditioned bus service shuttles between Sofia and Sliven at a cost of approximately €13.00 each way. The bus departs Sofia central bus station, a short taxi ride from the airport. The journey from Sofia to Sliven takes approximately four and a half hours and we arrange a collection service to and from the coach station at Sliven.
Car Rental
Visitors wishing to rent a car will find car rental in Bulgaria is relatively cheap, good quality and available at both Sofia and Burgas airports but, as we provide transport to all photography locations, the hire of a car is not really necessary but the option is available.
The 325 kilometre car journey from Sofia airport to Sedlarevo is very straightforward and is slightly quicker than the coach service at around three and a half to four hours easy driving as the route is motorway all the way apart from the final 20 kilometres. There are numerous café and filling stations en-route for refreshment if needed.
The car journey from Burgas airport to Sedlarevo takes approximately one hour and is, again, quite straightforward.
Flight Booking - General
Visitors are requested to book their holiday places and flights as soon as possible to gain the cheapest flights into Burgas. It is also recommended that a little time taken in checking out all carriers for flight options can locate some very reasonable deals due to the current financial situation, especially among the holiday charter companies.
Generally, the scheduled carrier, Wizz Air, has the much cheaper flights during weekdays. Flights into Sofia via WizzAir and EasyJet are cheaper than flying into Burgas but the extra journey to and from Sofia must be costed in financially and time wise. Our visitors arrive using both arrival points without any problems.
Travel Insurance
We cannot emphasise enough that visitors to our Photography Holiday Courses must take out all-risks holiday insurance at the same time they make the booking for their holiday course.
Currency
Bulgaria's currency, the Leva, is tied to the Euro at a fixed exchange rate of approximately 1.95 Leva to 1.00 Euro. There is no need to purchase local currency for your trip, all areas, supermarkets, etc., have ATM machines that take the normal international credit/debit cards and dispense local currency at the official exchange rate. Although Bulgaria has a very low cost of living compared to western Europe, the standards of food and drink are to a very high standard. Eating out is generally 50% less than in the west.
